Until a week ago was Christian Thielemann as a candidate to the top post at the Berlin Philharmonic. The conductor of the Dresden Staatskapelle but was beaten by Kirill Petrenko. Now he must, after all, officially called music director of the Bayreuth Festival. The partner of the festival would Thielemann recently equipped with an appropriate contract, said festival spokesman Peter Emmerich on Monday. After the Berlin Philharmonic choice is now speculation in music circles as to whether behind Anja Kampes rejection lies a competition between Petrenko and Thielemann. The Munich-based Mercury will also know that Anja Kampe Petrenko’s girlfriend. There had been a clash between her and Thielemann. The festival spokesman Peter Emmerich calls these rumors, however, “Goss journalism”. The North Bavarian Courier he said, if it were unfounded speculations.
Gone in Bayreuth, meanwhile, are the discussions about an alleged hill ban for Eva Wagner-Pasquier (70) to the end this year’s festival from the Festival line separates. Earlier this month, there had been reports that they should have been asked not to be present in the final rehearsal phase.
Eva Wagner-Pasquier is the Festspielhaus present and kill her work – “and by the end of August,” Emmerich said. Then run from their tenure. The experienced opera manager and her half-sister Katharina Wagner (37) had 2008, the festival management adopted.
