The US writer James Salter is dead. Salter died just days after his 90th birthday all of a sudden during an appointment with his physiotherapist, as his wife the “New York Times” said.
Born in New York on June 10, 1925 Salter had celebrated since the 50s, among other books like “A play and amusement” and “light years” as a writer successes. Last time was in 2013, his novel “Everything that has been” hailed by critics and readers.
Literary he played in the same league as Philip Roth and John Updike. And it is from those fellow writers he was highly valued. John Irving for example wrote in a review on Salters memoirs “Burned days”: “Every writer will feel small in the face Salters great language.”
