The French writer Michel Tournier is dead. The bestselling author died Monday at the age of 91 years. This was reported by the French news agency AFP, citing the family circle and the town hall of his hometown Choisel. Tournier had his international breakthrough with “Erl King”, a novel about a journey through East Prussia during the Second World War. The book earned him the coveted Prix Goncourt. He tried through his writing with the Franco-German stereotypes clean up.
