REVIEW: X-Files – Season 10 – Episode 1: My Struggle (TV)
The X-Files was one of the most popular TV series of the nineties and established a new” Mystery “trend in television. The series of literary legend stories about UFOs, aliens and other paranormal phenomena with a lot of conspiracy theories to a gloomy crime series, which focuses on the unequal agents Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) were that on your own were looking for the truth. After nine seasons and two feature films ended up being concluded, because fewer and fewer spectators at the usually just one step ahead and then could inspire two steps back moving great conspiracy story that only by the “monster of the week” episodes still some variety offered and with the departure of David Duchovny the last seasons and had no chance to be able to continue back to the early days.
More than ten years after the end of the series opens Fox the “X-Files” new and offers the series a second chance – or at least an option on it. Because instead of a completely new season, there is first of all only a six-part mini-series, the success of which will decide whether it then goes on. And this pressure to succeed you realize already at the first new episode, for which again X-Files creator Chris Carter is responsible. Not because of the tempo (which is rather leisurely) but due to the many conspiracy stories that are drawn in a variety gradually out of the hat, which had previously served in this scope for more seasons. UFOs, Aliens, an evil government conspiracy that give the well-known events a whole new spin and much more: At the end of the first episode it is again completely in the middle of history in it, as if there had been no break. Presents quite unlike the smooth HD look of a new series in the familiar noisy-blurred style – – Before the opening credits, there is initially again a very quick recap for all viewers who have never heard of “The X-Files”
The entry into the new story and the coincidence of figures is then but quite quickly. It goes straight to the new case of Mulder and Scully returns to the X-Files: The TV presenter Tad O’Malley makes Mulder and Scully with the young Sveta known that claims abducted by aliens and the victim of a genetic manipulation become to be. Shortly thereafter, Mulder receives new information about the UFO crash over Roswell, who seem to throw overboard all his experiences of the last decades, and bring on the trail of a great conspiracy, which provides an explanation of decades of war, terror and surveillance actions. Scully is skeptical at first, but makes himself equal to own experiences, which are most disturbing for them …
The first episode of the new X-Files-Season holds 46 minutes of runtime to represent the typical specifications of television and is not very action-packed, yet exciting, because it raises a lot of curious ideas on the table and thus a good introduction to the further consequences builds which then again can deal with individual X-Files yourself. Chris Carter packed directly all possible events of 09/11 to today’s technology monitoring in the construction of its new conspiracy theory, in the next government and powerful industry representatives seem to be involved, because they provided the basis for its successful business in recent decades. This is so cleverly designed that the new X-Files series, unlike the classics involves so much elements of today’s reality with that the whole thing is not just fun Mystery entertainment but at times, where for even the most absurd let theory win Facebook fans, could provide a godsend for today’s conspiracy theorists. Who can keep some distance from the stories, but will hopefully similarly entertained by the other episodes like the pilot episode.
The tenth X-Files Season runs in the United States since 24 January on Fox and starts on 8 February in Germany on ProSieben. The individual episodes there is a fee right after the US broadcast on iTunes or Amazon in the original language. The Blu-ray Disc & amp; DVD release follows the recent information is expected in April
