Eagles guitarist Glenn Frey died – FAZ – Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung

Glenn Frey, co-founder of the American rock band Eagles, has died at the age of 67 years in New York. “Glenn struggled in recent weeks a courageous struggle, but he succumbed sadly complications of rheumatoid arthritis, acute colitis and pneumonia,” the band said on Monday (local time) with on its website. “Words can express neither sorrow nor the love and respect for all that he has given us his family, the music community and millions of fans worldwide,” it was said about the singer and guitarist.

The Eagles had been founded in 1971 by music executives as backing for the country rock singer Linda Ronstadt. With her warm melodic sound, they were the epitome of the California rock.
