After terrorist threats from hackers film production company Sony has canceled the launch of North Korea satire The Interview. Sony Pictures Entertainment has no plans publication of the strip more, the company said. Previously, hackers had published a threat: “Remember to September 11, 2011.”
Sony justified the move with the fact that many cinemas had announced in the US and Canada after the terrorist threats, not to show the film. In the comedy with Seth Rogen and James Franco is about a fictional assassination of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
The cyber attack on the Hollywood studio is according to data from US government sources from North Korea in order been given. The investigators had come to the conclusion that the leadership was responsible for the computer attack in Pyongyang, reported from government circles in Washington. The administration of US President Barack Obama will probably release an official statement on the allegations in the near future, it said.
A group of hackers had attacked the end of November, the computer system from Sony Pictures and caused significant damage. The group also warned the comedy about a CIA plot against North Korea in the cinema to watch. In the United States has been speculation for weeks that North Korea could be behind the hacker attack.
Back in July, North Korea had complained about the film at the UN. To produce a film about the assassination of a sitting head of state and publish is not only a “act of war” but also a “blatant support for terrorism,” Pyongyang angry at the time.
