Fifteen Years Reinhold Beckmann has his own talk show moderated – now he goes go where life takes.
are fifteen years between 1999, when you began your talk show, and your last show this Thursday. What has changed in this time in this genre?
Today, there are definitely more talk shows. And when the guests has perfected something. For some, talk show appearances are almost become a profession. This circle of about twenty regular talk show faces that there was fifteen years ago are not.
As you known did your decision to withdraw – in May of last year – one had the impression that there were too many German television talk shows. Would you share your impression?
I’ve always said that each ARD Talk has its own profile and represents a strong core information. I know no station in Europe, which provides such a diverse and good range of political talk shows.

In the knowledge of our not an easy situation we were stubborn in the content and the guest cast in the last two years in the best sense. We have so many editorial liberties indulged like never before. I think we are in the last few months, thanks to this freedom, here and there a few exceptional programs succeeded. For example, when we did a show about Ebola and the situation in West Africa a few weeks ago. A difficult but necessary topic. Even if not necessarily ratings records are at midnight expected.
Do you remember your very first mission?
Yes, I was nervous. Guests included Nadja Auermann, Matthias Reim and Oliver Bierhoff. And there were in the studio audience.
