Over 30 years in the business, more than 80 million albums sold, coolness in its purest form – the Red Hot Chili Peppers have long been among the bands that are on top of things. Even more will belong when they report back after five years.

My goodness, what the Red Hot Chili Peppers released not been for albums. Starting with the work of the century “Blood Sugar Sex Magik” about her bestseller “Californication” to the doped a Grammy double album “Stadium Arcadium”. The number of hymns, singer Anthony Kiedis, bassist Flea and have repeatedly recorded mainly on guitar changing collaborators is hard to measure. As might be forgiven them also, that they sometimes a handle is undermined in the toilet – in 1995 with the album “One Hot Minute”, her undoubtedly weakest work, since they early 90s were preparing to occupy a place in the Mount Olympus of rock forever .

Meanwhile, the band that made once only with a pair of socks on their genitals for vertebrae, as well as beyond criticism. And they can afford, time to leave just pull a mere five years the land between two albums. 2011 appeared with “I’m With You” that to which since 1988 drummer Chad Smith and since 2010 the newest guitarist Josh Klinghoffer include hitherto last and again critically acclaimed album of the quartet. Only now there’s “The Getaway” the successor, however, because Flea was sidelined for months while snowboarding broke his arm and with the bass playing.

Goodbye Rick Rubin

13 songs include the now eleventh studio album of the Chili Peppers, which involves in particular behind the scenes a major breakthrough with it. For the first time in 25 years, since 1991, since “Blood Sugar Sex Magik”, since six albums in a row is responsible for the band’s sound in “The Getaway” not legendary producer Rick Rubin. Instead, a more recent Stern took with Danger Mouse as Brian Burton calls with artist name, the producers sky work on the controllers to. The 36-year-old, who has produced, among other works of the Gorillaz, Gnarls Barkley and the Black Keys in the past, has been a mere five Grammys on the shelf.

And Danger Mouse has “The Getaway” significantly left his mark – in the form of a backward roll. So much spark as much maltreated by Flea slap bass and so much ’70s flair, there was no longer with the Red Hot Chili Peppers for their still little known early days. But even Soul bonds as the first single “Dark Necessities”, electronic gadgets like “Go Robot” or gentle piano sounds can be heard on the album – actually at “Sick Love” sits none other than Elton John on keyboards .

the old Ohrschmeichler Anthony Kiedis, however,

One thing remains largely on track: the Elan and the Bums. “The Getaway” was a “very emotional drive,” said Kiedis. One could describe the album as exceptionally soft, spherical and withdrawn for the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Dancefloor branded “Give It Away”, “Around The World” or “By The Way” you’re looking at the disk in vain. Until there ever something brute down to business, you really have to the songs nine and ten – “Detroit” and “This Ticonderoga” – wait. Until then, a Kiedis lulls with its proven Ohrschmeichler Voice over long distances complacent one. “The Getaway” is easy listening at its best. Perhaps because Kiedis, Flea and her supporters simply times felt like it. Or maybe because the now Mitfünfzigern better face is a musical spin attacks.

The response to “The Getaway” does not diminish. The work is celebrated mainly again in international reviews. Unlock Some previous masterpieces of the band completely, it may not. The group is the itch slightly. Also on this review, the Red Hot Chili Peppers are now once completely sublime.
