Günther Jauch and his wife Thea failed with an appeal to the European Court of Human Rights. The Court declared them inadmissible and concluded that it is manifestly unfounded.
It is about the reporting of the magazine “Bunte” about the wedding of Jauch and his wife in 2006. The couple had previously communicated to the press, it wishes no reports. The “Colorful” nevertheless published an article with several photos.
The Jauch eventually decided in court and complained to compensation in the amount of 250,000 euros and a smart money of 75,000 Euro. The case went through the courts. The Hamburg Appeal raised in 2008 to an earlier ruling that the pair awarded a pecuniary payment.
The ECHR is not the first court which refuses even to discuss about the case: Already in 2010 it had rejected the Constitutional Court to accept the appeal of Jauch.
Günther Jauch is known that he attaches great importance to the protection of his privacy. He kept going mainly against publications the tabloids and obtained rebuttal to false or disfiguring reports – sometimes even on the front page.
