“The Floating piers”: Christo installation solves Visitors chaos – ZEIT ONLINE

The rush to Christos new project The Floating Piers is enormous even for a few days after the opening. For about 3,000 people, the journey to the floating pontoons of the installation artist in the northern Italian Iseo is initially stayed in the main station of the nearby city of Brescia to the end, the news agency Ansa reported.

The region is now overcrowded, therefore, people should initially not continue in the direction of the lake. Volunteers of the civil defense took care of the people, it said.

The project was opened last Saturday. On the first day had 55,000 people entering the webs. The whole weekend had to train and ferry terminals are repeatedly interrupted. The Floating Piers are free to access and open around the clock. Until July 3, they shall be accessible to visitors. It is estimated that over 500,000 tourists from around the world.
