72. Venice Film Festival: “The Danish Girl” moved on Lido – Tiroler Tageszeitung Online

Venice (APA) – The British competition entry “The Danish Girl” has been received with much applause and tears shed at the press screening ahead of the premiere evening on Saturday at the Venice Film Festival. Eddie Redmayne embodies in the moving drama that transgender pioneer Lili Elbe and brings up shortly after his Oscar coronation of “The Theory of Everything” again Award-course.

“The Danish Girl” is based on the bestseller by David Eberhoff and tells the story of Danish painter Einar Wegener, who underwent a first patient probably a sex reassignment surgery to 1930′s. British director Tom Hooper (“The King’s Speech”), with the 33-year Redmayne already “Les Miserables” turned previously, tells the story against the backdrop of deep love between Wegener and his self-sacrificing wife Gerda (Alicia Vikander) , The three are expected in the evening at the premiere as well on the red carpet as costars Matthias Schoenaerts, Amber Heard and Ben Whishaw. The film starts in January 2016 in the Austrian cinemas
