Berlin (dpa) – Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier paid tribute to the work and the political commitment of the late conductor Kurt Masur. He was a great artist who has always sought and found in music the message of humanity and understanding, the SPD politician. Steinmeier also recalled Masur role during the autumn of 1989, the “significantly contributed to the peaceful flow of protest” in Leipzig. The former head of the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra died yesterday aged 88 years
