Fred Düren is dead – Deutsches Theater mourns – T-Online

Fred Düren has died at the age of 86 years in Jerusalem. The former Berlin actor lived there since 1988 as a rabbi. “The German theater and many of its staff mourn Fred Düren,” said director Ulrich Khuon on the homepage of the theater. Since 2008 the actor was an honorary member of the house.

The ensemble belonged to the native of Berlin from 1958 to 1988 on. He became known for roles like Shylock, fist or Oedipus, he also starred in numerous DEFA films. After several trips Jerusalem, he decided in 1988 to remain as a rabbi in Israel. There he died, according to the Death of his family already on March 2 and was buried on the Mount of Olives
