Actress Edith Hancke died – derStandard.at

Berlin – The actress Edith Hancke died on Thursday with 86 years in Berlin. This was confirmed by the Berlin Theater am Kurfürstendamm. Hancke was regarded as the “Queen of the Boulevard Theatre”. Together with her husband and fellow actor Klaus Sonnenschein she stood long on stage.

In addition, she appeared in numerous films, most recently in spring 2009, alongside Christine Neubauer in the ARD comedy “marshmallows”. In 2000 she received the Golden Camera for her life’s work. At drama school which was born in Berlin was once flunked “because of lack of talent”. Three weeks later, however, they already got her first film role in Hauptmann’s “beaver”. After that she played among others at the Berlin Renaissance theater, the Deutsches Theater, the Schiller Theater and at the grandstand. (APA, 6.4.2015)
