It does not take a therapist to realize that it was long overdue for the beautiful city of Munich, to deal with this unsightly part of your past. That now the seventieth anniversary of the liberation – on 30 April 1945 American troops took over the “Capital of the Movement” – the Nazi documentation center is opened, may seem conclusive. A closer look at the highly symbolic date only camouflages the fact that it has in Munich not hurry in this issue once again.

Then, the founding director was found and released again shortly before the planned opening; the design of power passed to a four-council, consisting of historians Hans Günter Hockerts, Marita Krauss, Peter Longerich and the architectural historian Wilfried Nerdinger.
