Hollywood legend George Kennedy, the “Cool Hand Luke” 1968 won an Oscar for his role in, died on 28 February 2016 aged 91 years.
Kennedy, who played alongside the likes of Paul Newman, Clint Eastwood, Bette Davis, Burt Lancaster and Charlton Heston, was more than 60 years working in the film and television business. Born in New York City, the son of a conductor 1925 George Harris Kennedy began his career in the mid 50s in the “The Phil Silvers Show”, followed up by numerous guest appearances on television series. In the 60s he coined Western and war movies, and in the 70s he was increasingly seen in action and disaster movies, including the “Airport” series. Furthermore, had Kennedy in films such as Robert Aldrich’s adventure drama “Flight of the Phoenix” in 1965 and the war movie “The Dirty Dozen” (1967) with, played in the thriller “Hidden Target” with Sophia Loren and has starred in thrillers such as ” A man settles “and” revenge out of jail. ”
For his role alongside Paul Newman in Stuart Rosenberg’s “Cool Hand Luke” 1967 Kennedy was awarded an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor. In 1991 he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and retired in advanced age not from the film business. Most recently, he played a supporting role in Rupert Wyatt’s 2014 published “The Gambler” remake with Mark Wahlberg.
