The members of the band Earth, Wind & amp; Fire mourn their colleague Maurice White: “My brother, hero and best friend Maurice White’s last night died peacefully in his sleep,” it said in a statement of his brother and bandmate Verdine White. The world has lost another great musician and a legend.
Maurice White was born in 1941 in Memphis. The Jazz drummer founded the nine-man troupe Earth, Wind & amp; Fire in 1969, the style was inspired by soul and funk. Among the biggest hits include “Shining Star,” “Boogie Wonderland” and “September”. The band has sold more than 90 million albums and won six Grammys together. In 2000, she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.Shortly after, Maurice White had made his Parkinson’s disease publicly. Symptoms had been seen already in previous years. Since the mid-nineties White joined because of his health problems no longer live with the band.
“For more than three decades I have created music,” it says on its website. “Music, of which I hope she touches you in a special way.”
