Bafta: Leonardo DiCaprio for best actor in “Revenant” – SPIEGEL ONLINE

Leonardo DiCaprio took the prize at the British Bafta Awards in London for best actor for his role in – won “The Revenant The returnees”. The award of the British Film and Television Academy Bafta is considered a test run for the Academy Awards in Los Angeles on 28 February.

It is DiCaprio’s first award with a Bafta. The 41-year-old beat out Eddie Redmayne, who was nominated for “The Danish Girl”. “I think he is exceptional and deserves everything,” the Briton said on the red carpet in front of the Royal Opera House on his US counterparts.

“The Revenant” was five BAFTAs the most successful film of the evening. The Wild West-thriller set in the snowy Rocky Mountains has been honored by the 6,500 members of the Academy for Best Picture and won Bafta masks for camera operator, sound as well as the director of the Mexican Alejandro González Iñárritu.
