Jamie-Lee Kriewitz has the qualifying round the 61. Euro vision song Contest (ESC) won. The aged 17, student from Springe near Hannover sat down with the song “Ghost” by nine competitors. When audience voting, they received 44.5 percent of votes in the second competitive round. On the second and third of singer Alex Diehl with 33.9 percent and the rock band Avantasia came with 21.6 percent. Kriewitz is the winner of the talent show The Voice of Germany .

Actually, the ARD did not want to let the audience vote. Without the usual preliminary decision of the competent NDR had the 44-year-old musician Xavier Naidoo nominated as German representative for the ESC final in Stockholm. Alone on the selection of the title should be coordinated in a TV show. The decision Naidoo had however triggered wide protest, after which the station withdrew the nomination.

Naidoo was repeatedly struck by comments from the right-wing spectrum. He claimed, for example, Germany was still not a sovereign but an occupied country. 2014 he joined a “vigil for peace” in, an event of extreme right-wing cross front movement. Some of his songs are also in the review to be promoting violence and inhuman. Therefore, the singer had to answer before court.

The ESC-finals will take place on 14 May. The past few years have been very successful for the German participants. 2015 singer Ann Sophie was with zero points last.
