Fatih Akin filmed “Tschick” by Wolfgang Herrndorf – SPIEGEL ONLINE

Two teenagers who drive for a whole summer without a card and life plan by the East German province – the plot of Wolfgang Herrndorf’s novel “Tschick” has always sounded like the perfect material for a road movie.

filming should bestseller originally “wetlands” director David Wnendt. Now accepts yet another: Fatih Akin (“Head On”) will be directing “Tschick”. Producer Marco Mehlitz and Wnendt had decided not to work together on the project. This was announced by the agency Just publicity. Further details did not exist to do so.

Herrndorf died in 2013 at the age of 48 years. His award-winning, celebrated as a theater version roadtrip novel is one of the most successful books of contemporary German literature. At the film plans Herrndorf seemed alive with even itself.

Akin had recently brought in 2014 with “The Cut” a drama about the fate of the Armenians to the movies. With “Gegen die Wand” (2004) he won the Golden Bear for best film at the Berlinale. However, the German-Turkish director from Hamburg also already working in comedy specialist, such as the film “Soul Kitchen”

The shooting for “Tschick” is to commence in September. is rotated among others in Berlin and Brandenburg. The occupation was not mentioned. The theatrical release is scheduled for September 15, 2016.
