László Krasznahorkai wins Man Booker International Prize 2015 – SPIEGEL ONLINE

The Hungarian writer László Krasznahorkai has been in London awarded the Man Booker International Prize 2015. The 61-year-old impressed the jury, among others, with his book “The Melancholy of Resistance” – a dark satire about Western civilization

“László Krasznahorkai is a visionary author of exceptional intensity and width in the expression of everyday life. captures the presence in scenes that are strange, scary, funny and disturbing staggering beautiful “, describing jury chairman Marina Warner, the work of the award winner from Hungary.

The 60,000 pounds – around 80,000 euros – endowed award was presented this year for the sixth time. She goes to authors from around the world in the field of fiction for their complete works. Winner of the biennial international literary prize awarded are as renowned authors such as Philip Roth (2011) and Alice Munro (2009). The actual Booker Prize is aimed against it exclusively to authors from the UK and Ireland.

German authors were not nominated this year. But winners Krasznahorkai temporarily lives in Berlin.
