Is it Post- rock artpop or Ambient with jazz and folk elements, which Arlie Carstens and Eric Fisher aka Atoms and Void organize on their debut? No matter, the main thing it sounds good. And it does.

“And Nothing Else” already appeared two years ago online, now this album is finally still palpable on CD and vinyl for a larger audience. The German Lovers label Arctic Rodeo took care of the matter and brought the plate end of May in the shops. Although a juicy moss green cover makes ever curious, the then following musical journey through a dozen songs not fascinated less.

Atoms And Void are basically a duo project, but here have many musician friends “cooked with” without spoiling the end porridge – about Nate Mendel (Sunny Day Real Estate, Foo Fighters), Gabe Carter (Juno), Cory Murchy (minus the Bear), Morgan Henderson (Fleet Foxes, Cave Singers) or Rosie Thomas (Sufjan Stevens). All of talented people from the American indie scene, with whom Carstens / Fisher their dream of a plate transpose the sounds and moods of The National with Slowcore of low and eccentricity shed the last masterpieces TalkTalk linked.

This has long faded British band, especially their latest masterpieces “Spirit of Eden” and “Laughing Stock” was, felt the inspiration for Atoms and Void, about the wonderful piano and horn arrangements of “Virginia, long Exhale” or “the Conductor”.

“Since I had these two albums first heard, I also wanted to have a band, a project with a clear vision and an own sound, but not necessarily a particular constellation or combination of musicians – so no ‘band’ in the traditional sense, “Carstens said in an interview. The result is a high quality, highly exciting drive that also disclosed in the tenth through hearing something new.
