Wolfgang Leonhard’s most famous book is titled “The Revolution dismisses their children”. It appeared in 1955 in the Federal Republic of Germany and resulted in mind, as it had happened in Stalin’s Soviet Union and build the SED dictatorship in the Soviet occupation zone. The book of the formerly enthusiastic Communist who had become the Soviet critics, quickly became a classic of Communist Studies.
Wolfgang Leonhard, born 1921 in Vienna, in 1935 emigrated with his mother in the Soviet Union. In 1945 he returned with the Ulbricht group to Berlin. In 1949 he fled to Belgrade, in 1950 he moved to West Germany in order. Here he became a recognized political Russia experts. From 1966 he taught in the summer semesters over more than twenty years at Yale University on the history of the USSR and communism. On this subject he has published numerous books.
