According to the recent filming of the actor Daniel Craig said yet that he would rather cut their wrists as again to play James Bond. Everything not so seriously meant, he says now – and tells how he has managed from Liverpool to Hollywood.
has taken since the smart Briton decade ago in “Casino Royale” the James Bond role, he embodies 007 again so as to be him inventor, the English writer Ian Fleming, who created. And like him Sean Connery in 1962 at the very first Bond film “James Bond Dr. No” represented: masculine, cold, physically fit and mentally unpredictable. Now Daniel Craig is in his fourth Bond movie “Spectre” to see (from today in the cinema). Will it also be his last Bond? Craig has been found in interviews with the British press as extremely Bond tired. And then again a back door kept open. Again nachzuhaken a good opportunity. When interviewed in Berlin’s luxury Hotel Adlon you experience a tidy Daniel Craig, free of airs and directly.

Mr. Craig, now is really an end to Bond?
Who knows? At the moment I can not rule it out completely, nor can I give guarantees, to make another Bond film.
But you would rather be cut wrists when once again stand out as James Bond before the camera – as you have entrusted to a British journalist – that’s off the table
That was meant as a joke?. The interview to which you allude, I made two days after the last day of shooting. Since I was just mentally and physically totally exhausted. After eight months of filming, where I stood for “Spectre” in almost every scene in front of the camera, I had the feeling that I desperately need a bond break. I will now just deal some time with something else. Even then sometime to go into myself to find out how much Bond is still in me
James Bond:. “Spectre” starts in the cinema
What have you personally with James Bond have in common?
Just about anything, I hope. Bond is an ice-cold killer who will stop at nothing. He’s a daredevil who has nothing and nobody scared. I, however, am not particularly brave, and I also lose my ever Contenance when I’m angry. And I also do not think of a macho in me I have a lot.
The very fact that you are in character far apart, making your interpretation of Bond drawing FIG yet so sexy.
I am pleased that you see it that way. So there is always a small residual doubt, I hope. This is the figure of ambivalent and less predictable. One thing is certain and remains Bond the icon that he is now. But I’ve definitely tried, less sexist and woman despising him represent when he was in earlier incarnations. This traditional Bond image to play something and be exhausted, which was great fun with every film.
The Craig-bashing has long since past: The current Bond actor is now considered a prime addition to Sean Connery. Photo: AP
Is not it easier to play a character that you already know so well That’s true. I know now exactly how Bond is ticking as he behaves at risk or how he deals with women. But you have to be as an actor also preserve a radical unfamiliarity with the role still. Otherwise it gets boring.
Is it true that you have been inspired in your Bond-interpretation of Harrison Ford’s Indiana Jones?
Yes, especially as he plays Indiana Jones in “Raiders of the Lost Ark”. Since he holds almost somnambulistic the balance between seriousness and humor. Man has always been afraid that he is drifting in the one direction or another, but what he never does. I find that very exciting.
Adjust Bond and other cinema superhero actually even into the 21st century?
As protagonists of action, entertainment and fun films have definitely still a privilege. But as a type of modern man they have probably recognized some dust. I do believe that the classical hero image – and thus also the image of men – just changed quite a bit. This does not mean that the man of today tends towards wimp. He can grab hard already, even if it is sometimes necessary. But he is also sensitive and responsible way.
Six Faces of James Bond
James Bond has no face? He has six faces! Sean Connery (1962 to 1967): In the first five and the seventh movie he plays the secret agent. Connery wears in all his Bond films a toupee. In 1971 he returned once as James Bond in “Diamonds Are Forever” back. In 1983, he had then in “Never Say Never Again” (picture) for the seventh time an (unofficial) application.

when she was cast as the new Bond ten years ago, you have been showered with malice. It was a veritable Craig-bashing. Today you are seen by many as the best Bond actor Sean Connery next …
The fact that the last three Bond films were so extremely successful, is certainly good for self-confidence. But self-confidence I had even before the Bond films. An actor without confidence is like a tiger without teeth. And without a certain bite you can not survive in the film business. Of course it is far from being constructive, if one is drawn from people who have never seen a Bond film meters, ridiculed or even vehemently hated it, just because you are the new Bond. But what could I do? Move the tail and hide myself? Or concentrate on my work and get the most out of me? Full-seen from this I am as Bond actor but only a small cog in the machine. There are so many talented people at work. And when the mood turned to my favor, I felt already as a relief. But only briefly. With each new Bond film, the pressure builds quickly gets on.
you have fear of failure?
has probably every artist from time to time. It is important that to overcome them, and – at best -. Ummünzt in something creative
What helped you
I knew that I can act. I had worked before the Bond films with lots of very interesting directors and made a handful of really good films. So something will help. Of course, James Bond is a very special character, each of which has a very specific idea. And since you will then be on the set and think: “Now I have to bring it!”
They told me, rivalries are you contrary. Tell me how to become a Hollywood star, when others can always go first?
(Laughs) It’s not like I sit quietly in the corner and nothing have to say. Of course, I am working with heart and soul for a role that I want to have. But the cut and thrust, the scheming and bullying – I just do not. A drama teacher gave me many years ago the best advice regarding my profession. He said: “Will never bitter. Never Begin to colleagues to envy their success. Concentrate on what you have achieved and can achieve. “This brings me to now always drove very well.
you are the Bond films for become a multimillionaire. Spoils so much money the character?
about money I’m talking about basically not. But one thing is certain: Not money ruins the character, but the greed for it. And since you do not have to do not worry about me. Because I’m pretty down to earth. While it is certainly a very satisfying feeling that I have to make me in this life probably no more financial worries. And that I have ausgesorgt also for my family. And I know that I owe that ultimately the Bond films. But I am also very grateful. But everything has its price.
What do you mean?
The loss of anonymity I feel sometimes as early as very cramped. When I saw the movie “Obsession” turned the late 90s here in Berlin, no one knew me, and I was able to move freely and especially unobserved everywhere. I can not today. But I freely admit that this is a luxury problem.
You seem to be the metamorphosis of actor who could hold just so with his films about water to have a superstar but quite coped well.
In the meantime, I can handle it. But when it started really with the Bond-hype, which has already carried me something out of the corner. Then I was absolutely unprepared even after 15 years in the movie business. That made me pretty confused. And I could, frankly, to start anything with the so-called fame and fortune long time. Let alone have fun with it.
You were already at the 40 …
… luckily, because ultimately I had then but enough life experience in order not to totally floundering. I had to back find my inner balance.
In the heart of the boy from a Liverpool working class neighborhood you is therefore still closer than the Hollywood superstar?
(Laughs) Definitely. And that will probably always remain so.
However, you have made the leap to the top.
sometimes can I believe myself hardly. I would have never dreamed that it would one day run so well for me. But maybe I was just therefore always pretty relaxed at work. My goal was really to just make a living from acting. And that was a long time hard enough.
What gave you the confidence to not give up?
All my stamina I got myself in a Liverpool Rugby Club. It was a crash course in terms of blood, sweat and tears in the truest sense of the word. Indeed, contrary to American football we were not armored with protective clothing, but were quite unprotected at each other. Since you can not trick or pinching. Since it is his man – or go under. A great Survival Training. A great sport.
Why are not athletes but become actors?
I knew with 16, that I wanted to be an actor. Firstly, it has never worked properly at school with me, on the other hand I go then emotionally quite through. I would even say that I was downright depressed.
How did you come out of the deep back out?
Ultimately, my mother gave me the decisive kick. She told me one day pretty clearly, I should my luck finally grab the forelock and try acting, when so much would I care – or once and for all shut up. Then she handed me a few hundred pounds in the hand – and off we went to London. That was in 1985. I was asleep first with friends on the sofa until the put me back on the road. Then in cheap dismount. Or in Hyde Park. I lived almost like a tramp, but I did not mind at all. I felt free and unfettered. At least, I told myself at the time. The truth was, I was desperate to day by day and had terrible existential anxiety. I am then also soon return to Liverpool.
And what happened next?
Me have two totally different worlds dominated: The hard work world of my father, an ex-sailor who toiled as a steelworker, and my mother, who was an art teacher. So it was about time to make up my mind: Malochst you all your life in the factory – to live or dare you your dream? So I finally took off with 17 to London -. And soon come across luckily at a drama school and a little later even the theater
Is it true that you next year drama?
Yes, in the autumn and although off-Broadway in the Shakespearean play “Othello”. That is, since (the actress Rachel Weisz..; D Red) I two years ago with my wife starred in Harold Pinter “Betrayal” on Broadway, for the first time. With David Oyelowo in the title role, and with me as Iago. I am really looking forward to it.

How important is the work in the theater
I like to play theater – when it arises. And this work I see quite pragmatically. It is so often claimed by movie stars that they are playing theater in order to “work out quite different muscles” again. What a bullshit. The reason why I’m doing “Othello” is, because I’m friends with the director Sam Gold has long and him in high esteem.
you were already with many international stars in front of the camera. Who has impressed you most
With Harrison Ford in “Cowboys & amp?; Cooperate Aliens “was something very special for me. Some of my colleagues so he is regarded as aloof and difficult. I did not notice anything of it. I am shiny got along with him. He takes acting – as, incidentally, I also – very accurate and is concentrated there and highly professional. This applies by the way also to Christoph Waltz for.
Christoph Waltz’s “Spectre” Your antipode. How did you get along with him privately?
Our contact has been mainly restricted on Employment. Christoph is a unique actor. A real-rounder. And if you have someone like that, one can allude, then that is a profit ever for a person. He has set the bar very high and I hope that I’ve grown it. This applies by the way also to our director Sam Mendes to.
Is it true that you have already made for him as a director for “Skyfall” strong?
Yes, I was not entirely uninvolved in mind that Sam got the job as a director. Sam and I have grown up with the same Bond films and have almost identical reference points. So a match is worth gold when turning course.
But did you Sam Mendes does not desperately discouraged from James Bond to play?
(Laughs) Yes, when I Sam asked for advice as to whether I should enter as Bond actor in “Casino Royale”, he told me really discouraged. He was James Bond time too pomadig and totally unfashionable. For Sam was 007 as it were an outdated model. Well, then I have probably shown him that there is another way. Since then he has often apologizes for its crass misjudgment with me
Last question. How do you drink your martini cocktail prefer
(Laughs) Neither shaken nor stirred. I would much rather drink single malt whiskey
