USA Mass Media Awards Photography: local paper gets for photos … – THE WORLD

The US local newspaper “St. Louis Dispatch” was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for their news photos of the unrest in Ferguson. Three of the coveted awards went to the “New York Times”, including two for their Ebola reporting. Overall, the Pulitzer Committee of New York’s Columbia University recorded 22 prize winners in 21 categories.

The editors of the “New York Times” was collectively for their Reports from the Ebola disaster area in West Africa honored as the Pulitzer committee announced. In addition, the freelance photographer Daniel Berehulak for his impressive photo report in the “New York Times” was awarded to Ebola. The third prize for the venerable newspaper goes to her journalist Eric Lipton for his investigative research on the influence of lobbyists. Was nominated for the “New York Times” five times in four categories.

The Pulitzer Prize for memorandum photos got underway the local newspaper “St. Louis Dispatch” for their documentation of the unrest in the small town of Ferguson in the US state Missouri, after there is a white cop who shot an unarmed black youth. The renowned “Washington Post” was for awarded their domestic coverage, while the “Wall Street Journal” the price of investigative research with the “New York Times” informed.

In addition to the Pulitzer -Prices for Journalism Awards were presented also in the fields of poetry, fiction, history, theater and music. Thus, the Pulitzer for fiction went to Anthony Doerr for his novel “All the light that we see not” about the horrors of World War II, while David Kertzer the biography prize for his book on Pope Pius VI. and the fascist dictator Benito Mussolini received.

The Pulitzer Prize is one of the most prestigious journalism awards in the world. The prize is named after the late 1911 New York publisher Pulitzer, it was first awarded in 1917. Pass are the prices this year on May 28 during a luncheon at Columbia University.
