Two paintings by Vincent van Gogh have been found 14 years after a spectacular burglary in the Amsterdam Van Gogh Museum in Italy.
The Italian police had discovered in Naples, in a large-scale action against organized crime, told Amsterdam’s Van Gogh Museum on Friday.
“Yes, they have been found,” said the Director of the Museum, Axel Rüger. An art expert had examined the pictures in the order of the Italian judiciary, and the authenticity found, such as the Museum announced.
In the case of the precious works are the paintings “Zeegezicht bij Scheveningen” (the sea at Scheveningen 1882) and “Het uitgaan van de Hervormde Kerk te Nuenen” (The Church of Nuenen with churchgoers 1884/1885). They were easily damaged, but in relatively good condition, confirmed the Museum.
