Merkel speaks with Hollywood Star Richard Gere on situation in Tibet – THE WORLD

Bundeskanzlerin Angela Merkel (CDU) has taken Hollywood Star Richard Gere in Berlin in the Chancellery for an interview. Content of the meeting was the situation in Tibet, said government spokesman Steffen Seibert on Thursday via Twitter. Gere visited Merkel in his capacity as Chairman of the International Campaign for Tibet. Specific contents of the conversation were not known.

In the “Passauer Neue Presse” had announced Gere, to the Chancellor “a personal message from the Dalai Lama” to deliver. Gere said he even put in the Effort to end the suppression of Tibetans in China on Merkel. “She is one of the most courageous politicians, and has a clear interest in the fate of the Tibetans.”

The Tibet-activist announced to a conference to organise, which should probably take place in Germany. On the topic he had discussed on Wednesday with Bundestag Vice-President Claudia Roth (Green party).
