L ars Ruppel is the new German-language poetry slam champion. With a poem about the phrase “Alter Schwede” won the 29-year old native of Hesse on Friday night in Dresden the finals of the 18th championships of the modern poet.
Runner-up in single competition was Paul Weigl (“Nuremberg war of words”), the third place went to Tobias Gralke (“voice station Konstanz”). On Saturday the championships end with the finale of the best poetry slam team.
The author and presenter, who took the “Kreuzberg Slam Berlin”, is considered one of the most prolific stage poets in Germany , Last year he won with the group “Bottermelk Fresch” the team finals and just missed the single victory.
