The writer and literary critic Fritz J. Raddatz is dead. He died Thursday at the age of 83 years, as the Rowohlt announced. In particular for his work with the “time”, for which he had worked until 1985 as a literary editor and later as a cultural correspondent, Raddatz was considered one of the most influential critic of German literature. Raddatz his career in 1953 in the GDR started as a lecturer. In 1958 he moved to West Germany and was a few years later as the Rowohlt, where he discovered the likes of Elfriede Jelinek and Hubert Fichte.
In addition to his work as a journalist and critic Raddatz was a writer, translator and opinion-strong publicist honored. His autobiography “troublemakers” , in which he wrote of abuse in his family home and unsparing with himself and companions went to the court of heated debate. On February 27, his last book, shows “Prefer years with” about his work at the Rowohlt publishing house.
